Film Festivals and Other Forms of Futures

With a bit of encouragement, I've decided to try submitting "Home Again" to film festivals. There are several in the upper Midwest that might enjoy having a look at this little movie that umm, made my friends cry.

I don't want to either brag or to downplay the amount of work that went into this (trust me, there were lots of face palm moments!), but I think in order to honor the amount of effort that women before me have put in, it's time for me to carry on the torch and be okay with the world seeing six minutes of a "female written, directorial debut." Those words feel like a strange label to stamp myself with, and the honest truth is that making this video with my sister and nieces and nephew and friends was an incredible experience and priceless memory. I feel like anything extra would be an unnecessary amount of icing on the cake- but in the words of people I trust- "you've already put in the work, you might as well put it to work." So, I'm going to do this not for myself, but to show my nieces what the possibilities can be, and in honor of women who have spent their lives creating their futures in spite of limits set on them.

So, Black Hills Film Festival, and South Dakota Film Festival, here we come.

P.S. I am currently accepting advice on all areas of navigating the film industry. Happy to be the newbie in the room! :)
